This new cinematic space at the museum celebrates and showcases films featuring women who have played pioneering roles, challenged gendered expectations, and paved the way for others in the film industry.

“We are grateful for the tremendous interest and the generous donations by local businesses and individuals that enabled the creation of this new cinematic venue for the community”, said Rick Miller, President & Chair, Marie Dressler Foundation, which owns and operates the Canadian Women in Film Museum.

To kick-off the opening of Cinema trailblazeHER, a new film series, Mondays with Mary, will run each Monday, for the next several months. To launch this series, a remastered feature-length silent movie starring Mary Pickford, will be presented. Mondays with Mary is supported by generous contributions of the Mary Pickford Foundation.

Future events will also include documentary films from the National Film Board of Canada (NFB). The Women and the NFB series includes a number of motion picture titles, each chosen to align with the museum’s focus on film history, and innovative contributions to cinema made by women.  These presentations will be made possible with the support of the National Film Board of Canada.

Cinema trailblazeHER is located inside the Canadian Women In Film Museum, at the Marie Dressler House, 212 King St. West, Cobourg, Ontario.  The museum is owned and operated by Marie Dressler Foundation, a registered charity.
